Just A Little Note

I had a vision for this card when I saw the weekly Mojo Monday Sketch and I got started. Then I began to have doubts and the game of second guessing myself set in. Has this ever happened to you? It happens to everyone from time to time, and I think it is just part of the creative process.  It is how we learn and grow and stretch our creativity. I hate to waste materials, but I'm not afraid to admit defeat when an idea doesn't translate well. Sometimes those ideas are set aside while I "ponder" what to do, but most often those projects hit the trash can. However, sometimes I just stick with it to see what happens. This card is one of THOSE times! With all the "components" spread out before me, I wasn't too confident I would like the finished card. I was wrong. It really came together in the final stretch ... those little added touches did the trick I think. What do you think? I'd love to know ... and I love to read your comments!

  • The Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder is a favorite of mine because it is so versatile. It's one of those "go to" items that goes with practically everything.
  • My first response to Blushing Bride, one of our new In-Colors: "Another PINK?"  Not so fast. This is sort of a subtle peachy-pink, as opposed to a pinky-pink. I have now decided I really like this color! You'll be seeing it again (and again!).
  • Using both flower images from the set, I hand cut the smaller flower and layered it onto the larger flower using Stampin' Dimensionals. In the center I placed a teeny, tiny Basic Pearl.
  • The Word Window punch is cute on its own, but I love to pair it with the Modern Label punch. It really helped on this card to give the sentiment a "boost".
  • Three words: Basic Pearls Jewels. Sweet, adorable, elegant, and adhesive backed! No muss, no fuss.
The Apple Blossoms stamp set is one of our Level Two Hostess Sets. I've got several cute ideas for this set and can't wait to share them.  You can earn this exclusive hostess set with a qualifying workshop of just $300 or more. Gala For A Great Friend

The "greenhouse" is in full bloom this summer, which provides a great way to let your friend know she's special to you. Today's creation was inspired by this week's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. I did find it a bit challenging at first, then managed to get into the swing of things. The Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper is so versatile with charming muted prints and big, splashy, gorgeous blooms.

  • Once again, the Oval Scallop Frame die comes to the rescue for the perfectly sized oval. Save the scallop frame for another project.
  • With three tags to choose from, you are sure to find the perfect size for your project on the Matchbox die.
  • The new stitched-poly ribbon (available in all the new in-colors) is charming. It's also very easy to work with when tying bows.
  • I love the butterfly from the Great Friends stamp set. For this bit of class, I used white craft ink on vellum, then clear embossed it. Paper snips make cutting this cutie a breeze.

Technique alert! Did you spot the technique I snuck in?  Make a real statement with your greetings by using two colors of ink. How? Stampin' Write markers, baby! Just apply the ink to the desired parts of the image with markers. Before stamping, breathe on the inked stamp to remoisten the ink before stamping onto your paper.  I also used a Stamp-a-ma-jig positioner for perfect placement on the tag. It's a must-have tool!

Whoo's Your Friend

Seriously. Are these not the cutest little owls? Goodness gracious.  This card was one of the projects for my club gals on Saturday and it was a big hit. How can you not love these little guys? What a hoot! The card design was lifted straight from the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog. I am finding tons of inspiration each and every time I look through it. Don't have yours yet?  Contact me now to request your copy.

  • The new Two-Step Owl punch makes it a snap to create this cuteness.  Just layer the pieces and you've instantly got an adorable owl. Or two!
  • The Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paper shows off its playful side and even provides the perfect "belly" on our second little owl.
  • The Little Leaves sizzlit gives our duo a place to hang out. I snipped off a few leaves to give them plenty of room.
  • Make those eyes POP with the help of Stampin' Dimensionals.
Got questions? Comments? I love 'em both, so go ahead ... you know you want to.

Did you know ... don't throw out your sheet of Stampin' Dimensionals until you've used every last bit. Those edges are great to use for a variety of projects. Need a tiny piece for an eyeball perhaps? Just cut the edges into little bits and pieces with your paper snips. Viola! Teeny tiny Stampin' Dimensionals. Oh, and congratulations for stretching your supplies!

Stamping From The Heart

I was in the mood for a little challenge, so first I popped over to see what sort of challenge Shelli (Gardner, co-founder and CEO of Stampin' Up!) had posted this month on her blog.  A color challenge! And the interesting part is you can choose any color combination you want from the fabulous new Color Coach! I love that thing! I finally landed on this combo: Basic Gray, Melon Mambo, and Old Olive. Then I buzzed on over to this week's Mojo Monday Sketch (MOJO151). I love how it turned out. It's a clean and simple card that comes together quickly too.  Ta Da!

  • The Watercolor Trio stamp set will take you from novice watercolorer to "pro" instantly. It's not really cheating, it just seems like it. Your secret is safe with me!
  • Stampin' Write markers save the day on this little number. Use them directly on the stamp to color in all areas, then huff (breathe) on the stamp to remoisten the inks and quickly stamp the image.
  • Textured card stock adds subtle texture to this project without being distracting.  NEW: Our 12" x 12" paper is available in color collection assortments or in individual color packages containing smooth and textured cardstock.
  • The Modern Label punch does double duty here. The Old Olive label is cut in half and placed on either end of the white label. A little sponging with Old Olive gives the final touch to my greeting.
This gorgeous stamp set and the elegant satin ribbon are both featured in the Summer Mini Catalog, which expires August 31. If you've still got some items on your wish list, now is the time to order. And if you are like me and LOVE our satin ribbon, you'll want to stock up now on Basic Gray, Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue. These colors are only available until the end of August.

Fancy Flower Gift Card

Goodness. Where did the month of July go? Oh, yes - I remember now. Preparing for convention, planning and preparing swaps (for convention), attending convention, reviewing and organizing convention materials, and did I mention convention?!  LOL.  Just for good measure, I also planned and held a birthday bash for my sweet hubby to finish out the month. Here in Stampingville, that is what we call a banner month for good times, great friends, and grand creativity.

Today's elegant little number packs a lot of wow into one tiny package.  This 3x3 gift card would look great escorting any gift, but I'm thinking "wedding" when I look at these.  By changing up the ribbon and adding a bit of sponging on the flower ... instant variety!  I have my favorite, but I want to know yours.  Leave me a comment and tell me which version you like best.

  • I just can't get enough of the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. It really adds such wonderful texture and interest.
  • Speaking of texture, the Very Vanilla textured cardstock scores big for a polished look and feel.
  • Add instant elegance to any project with gorgeous satin ribbon.  Swanky!

If you are in the Sarasota area, you don't want to miss my fun and crafty party on Saturday.  I'm celebrating the release of the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog from Stampin' Up! and attendees will enjoy free Make and Takes, new samples and displays, prize drawings, and more.  Full details are on my events page HERE.  Come join us for some crafty fun and great ideas!
