Quick & Easy Crafting - Creating A Treat Box

Big Shot Projects Box #2 Easy Treat Box

Yesterday, I promised the details on this darling treat box I created using my free Sale-a-bration reward products. The box is created in a snap using the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and the Box #2 Bigz XL Die. Just one zip through the machine scores and cuts the box pattern. All that's left to do is fold the box into shape and decorate as desired. How easy is THAT?

I used Pink Pirouette card stock to create the box, then adorned it using the coordinating Ice Cream Parlor Accessories. The Melon Mambo Designer Series Paper has a cute scallop print along one edge, so I made sure to include that portion when cutting the paper.

TIP: Scoring the patterned paper before adhering it to the box, ensures crisp corners and a professional look. To do this quickly, wrap the paper around the box and press at the corners almost "pinching" the paper. Pull it away and use the fold lines as a guide to correctly score the paper (using a bone folder or your paper trimmer's scoring blade). Adhere paper to the box with Snail or Sticky Strip.

Stampin' Up! Punch Bunch stamp set and Ice Cream Parlor Quick Accents

The Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon sits atop the printed scallop design. (I used Sticky Strip to adhere the ribbon. It's the exact same width as the ribbon!) I chose one of the self-adhesive die-cut scallops from the Ice Cream Parlor Quick Accents and just snipped in-between each scallop allowing me to slightly bend the edges.

For the scallop center, I turned once again to the Punch Bunch stamp set and the "For you" scallop image. To ink the stamp with different colors, I used markers directly on the rubber stamp. TIP: When you use this technique, don't forget to huff (breathe) onto the stamp to remoisten the ink before stamping on paper. I punched out the image using a 1-1/4" Circle punch.

I stamped the image a second time, hand cut the flowers and popped them on the original image with Dimensionals. The circle was layered on a larger Old Olive circle and adhered to the scallop die-cut with dimensionals. The top of the box is decorated with a strip of the Melon Mambo paper and a coordinating die-cut strip.

Mini Card & Treat Box Easy Paper Craft Projects

For quick and easy treats for the box, simply wrap a few nugget candy's with strips of Designer Paper. The little flower is another one of the die-cut accents. With or without the box, this is a fabulous way to jazz up candy treats that will elicit ooh's and aah's from the crowd. Seriously. People will think you are a genious when you do this. Hee!

Happy National Craft Month!
