I hope you're having a great holiday weekend and doing something you love. And I also hope you've taken time (or will) to remember the true reason for today's holiday. Honoring and remembering those who served our country and paid the ultimate price.
To those who gave their lives to preserve our freedom and our way of life ...
To those who ARE remembering, with a heavy heart today ...
Thank you too. And I'm so sorry for your loss.

Let's have a little extra fun over the weekend with a contest, shall we? On June 1, Stampin' Up! will reveal which stamp sets will be "retiring" to make room for all the new sets debuting in the new catalog.
Can you guess which stamp sets will appear on the Last Chance List?
If you can, you just might win my Last Chance Contest!
How to enter the contest:
- Pick out 10 stamp sets from the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog that you think might retire on June 1st. (Hostess sets don't count.)
- Email your list to me by noon on Monday, May 30th.
- The person with the most correct guesses will win a $10 gift certificate good toward any Stampin' Up! order placed with me by July 31. Get all 10 right and win a $20 gift certificate!
- In case of a tie, the earliest entry received will be the winner.
- Winner will be notified on June 2, 2011.
- If the list is leaked early, the contest will end at that time. (Get those entries in!)
- Current Stampin' Up! demonstrators are not eligible to win (sorry).
Good luck and have fun!
Here is a (blast from the past) sample I pulled out using the Cheers to You stamp set (#114944 - IBC page 56). Think it will retire? I have NO idea! But it makes a really cute invitation and has tons of other fun possibilities, so I hope not!
Okay y'all ... game on.
Ready, set, go! ;)

Another birthday card! I created this one a while back for a friends birthday, but somehow it didn't make it's way here yet. Since one of my sweet furball babies turned 7 yesterday, I remembered this birthday card and thought the time was right!
I wanted a subtle (and easy) vintage look for this card and I think I managed to accomplish that. I really liked the end result. The background paper was selected from a sheet of the First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper, offered in the Occasions Mini Catalog. (This paper is still available to order.) It's a lighter-weight paper great for layering on cards and pages, crumples easily for a distressed look, and can even be used for papier-mache projects. With its vintage encyclopedia look, it's a no-brainer for creating the still trendy vintage style.
The flourish (from the Bliss stamp set offered during Sale-a-bration) was stamped over the paper in Basic Black. The flower image was lightly colored in using a Blender Pen with Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz ink. TIP: Rather than "coloring", I mostly just touched the tip of the blender pen to the paper so it wouldn't over-saturate and pill.
The greeting was stamped with VersaMark on a Very Vanilla oval (die-cut with the Big Shot), then covered with black embossing powder and heat set. The embossing does not show up well at all in these photos, but looks awesome in person. Trust me on this one!
After sponging Pink Pirouette lightly around the edges, I mounted the oval on a "frame" created with the Decorative Label Punch. Just punch out one piece, cut it in half, and attach the halves behind the oval. I LOVE the look of this! I've played with several color combos and styles of cards and it just looks great every time! (Patting self on back. Again.) Hee!
Happy Birthday, Lexi!
She's a tiny little girl under all that hair and just the most gentle thing ever. Unless, of course, her little sister gets on her nerves. Which, by the way, is pretty frequently! Hee! Happy Birthday, sweet girl. We love you!

The new Pretty Postage stamp set from Stampin' Up! is not only adorable, it's a versatile set with plenty of potential - on cards, tags, scrapbook pages, gifts and more. Paired with the coordinating Postage Stamp Punch, you'll love how quickly you'll be able to create fun projects with a sophisticated look. (Shhh! You don't have to tell the recipient how easy it was to create.)
I love using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder for birthday card backgrounds. It's gender neutral, perfect for all ages, and it's just plain fun! Perfect for a birthday celebration. Speaking of fun ... check out that Baker's Twine. Woo Hoo! LOVE that.
The Scallop Squares Duo Bigz Die provided the perfect shape for layering under the "postage stamps". Pop-up Alert! I used Stampin' Dimensionals on nearly every layer of this card for added pop! Good thing I ordered more - hee!
TIP: Stretch your supply of Dimensionals by cutting them in half. They will still be the same thickness, but will go twice as far.

Isn't this card stunning? We made it on Sunday at our team shoebox swap and it was designed by Kathie Linder. (Hi, Kathie!) This card will be suitable for just about any occasion - birthday, thinking of you, sympathy, a note of encouragement, thank you. No matter the occasion, I know the recipient is going to appreciate the simple lines and classic elegance of this creation.
The background piece was created with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder - a perfect accent to the flourish image. TIP: Punch decorative borders FIRST, then emboss using the folder.
The butterfly image was created by inking the stamp with Marina Mist ink, then adding a touch of Basic Gray ink with a sponge dauber to the lower wing edges. TIP: If you plan to cut out an image and pop it up with dimensionals, stamp the image onto the card stock where you plan to place the image. Then stamp the image again on a scrap to cut out. Place the cut out image directly on the original stamped image. This will create a natural "shadow" under the cut out and adds depth. It's an easy little trick and a great way to add professional flair to your projects.

Hi stampers! Today's card is one I created using the new Strength & Hope Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! Our new partnership with BCRF is part of our Making a Difference program - a program focused on promoting service, raising money, and helping others.
I'm always so touched (and proud) of the many ways Stampin' Up! supports worthwhile causes. As someone with a family history of breast cancer, I was especially touched by this new campaign. I hope you'll join us as we work to "stamp out cancer" and make a difference in the lives of others.
