Pick a Petal Birthday

When I was just learning to stamp, I fell in love with this card. It was designed by MY Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, who eventually became my "upline" - also known as my coach and mentor. The Pick a Petal stamp set immediately went on my wish list after making this card at one of her events. Sniff, sniff. Sadly, Pick a Petal will retire on June 30, but you still have time to purchase it along with other Stampin' Up! rubber stamps on the Last Chance List. Go here for a complete listing of the retiring stamp sets.

I gave the original design just a few updated touches, including the new Baker's Twine. So cute! Notice the Whisper White scallops? It's not a border punch or a die-cut - those are 3/4" circles lined up next to each other to create the look of a scallop border. Pretty clever, eh? Okay - it wasn't MY idea, but clever just the same. Use this technique to create any size "scallop" your heart desires.

By the way, Pick a Petal is a two-step stampin' set® designed for layering and combining images. Because the images usually overlap, you don't have to worry about "precision" stamping. Just eyeball it and let the chips fall where they may. These are great sets for people who don't like "fussy" stamping. Hee!

A Blast From The Past

I couldn't possibly talk about this stamp set one last time without showing this:

This face has been around the block a time or two, but it's just such a hoot every time you see it! In case you've missed out on this guy previously, his entire face (excluding the black pupils) is created using various stamps from the Pick a Petal stamp set.

Honestly - doesn't it bring a smile to your face? Perfect for get well or cheering someone up.

Hoping your day is all smiles!
