Welcome to Wisteria Wonder

Projects featuring Stampin' Up! In Colors

The new In Colors from Stampin' Up! are all fabulous, but today it's all about Wisteria Wonder! And is that little birdhouse adorable or what? I can't take credit for coming up with that creation ... it's Stampin' Up! all the way.

The July issue of Stampin' Success®, Stampin' Up!'s exclusive magazine for demonstrators, featured these darling birdhouses spotlighting each of the new In Colors. We were invited to create our own version and they made it super easy by sharing the birdhouse pattern on our demonstrator website. Well who can pass THAT up?! It's taken me a little while to get to it ... there were just a few other fun things going on at the time (convention and the debut of the new Idea Book & Catalog for starters!).

I had so much fun creating the birdhouse I decided to copy the idea for a card as well. Using the same birdhouse design, I made it a little larger for the card front and added the cute little "hello" sentiment from the Swirls & Curls Verses stamp set featured in the Summer Mini Catalog. Super cute!

Stampin' Up! Swirls & Curls Verses Greeting Card

The little cloud on the card was created using a chipboard piece from the On Board Merry Medley chipboard pack. I traced the cloud shape on Whisper White card stock, cut it out, and adhered it to the chipboard.

I gave this birdhouse a bit of added texture using the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The patterned paper is from the Flirtatious Specialty Designer Series Paper collection and I love, love, love it!

The birdhouse has an actual opening (created using a circle punch), but for the card I wanted the stamped image there, so I heat embossed the image with white embossing powder and cropped it using a circle punch. (The image fits perfectly inside a 1-3/8" circle.)

I just had to add a snippet of that CUTE ruffled ribbon (squee!) to the card. I can't wait to get my hands on all the other In Color ruffled ribbon! (Stupid budgeting.) AND there are coordinating POLKA DOT printed brads in the In Colors too! Have I mentioned  I  ♥ LOVE ♥ these new In Colors? Even Lucky Limeade - which I wasn't sure I'd like, but it's a great color.

A Bouquet Card For The Bride-to-Be

Wedding Bouquet Handmade Greeting Card

June may be a popular month for weddings ... somewhere ... but I don't think I've ever been invited to a June wedding!  Regardless of the month, creating a beautiful wedding card for a friend or family member is a real treat. This lovely "bouquet card" is suitable for a wedding or a bridal shower, which is exactly what I needed last weekend, as I headed off to a fun surprise bridal shower.

I found the idea on Stampin' Connection, a private website for Stampin' Up! demonstrators to share all kinds of information and ideas. It's just one of the many perks of being a demonstrator - LOVE THAT!

Punch Art Flower Bouquet Detail

This card is fairly easy to create. I started with a large scallop circle punched from card stock to use as a base for my bouquet. Next, I punched out tiny flower "blooms", also from card stock, using the tiny scallop circle punch in the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. To give the blooms just a hint of color, I used the Color Spritzer Tool and a marker to spritz a bit of pink onto Naturals White card stock before punching. The flowers were adhered to the scallop circle (I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue) starting at the outer edges and working toward the center and overlapping the flowers.

Flower Stems Created From Card Stock Paper

For the "stems" I took a piece of Old Olive card stock and SCORED it every 1/4". Then, using my paper trimmer, I cut strips 1/4" wide cutting in-between the score lines.  This creates 1/4" strips with a score down the middle - MUCH easier than trying to score a tiny strip of card stock down the middle! (I used my new Simply Scored scoring tool - Woo Hoo! Look for the Simply Scored in the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog on Sept. 1.) Each strip was folded on the score line, then gathered in a "bunch" (more or less), cut sides down, and secured at one end with a bit of tape.

Once the stems were arranged I wound a bit of ribbon around them using Mini Glue Dots to secure the ribbon ends. This piece was then attached to the scallop circle bouquet (taped). The bow was tied separately and attached using a Mini Glue Dot.

Bridal Bouquet Greeting Card Idea

The entire bouquet was attached to the card front using Mini Glue Dots at the stem area and Stampin' Dimensionals behind the flower portion.

A Multi-Purpose Greeting Card

Love & Care Rubber Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

I've knocked several "to-do's" off my crafting list with today's card! I've really been wanting to focus a little creative time on the Love & Care stamp set, a gorgeous Hostess set featured in the Summer Mini Catalog. The So Shelli Creative Challenge gave me the perfect opportunity with this month's theme: Thinking of You. I took a quick peek at this weeks Mojo Sketch and got to work.

Oval Frame - Designer Frames Embossing Folder Set
Another "to-do" was trying out a few techniques with the new Designer Frames Embossing Folder Set. After embossing the oval frame, I punched out the center using the XL Oval Punch (a perfect fit!). The "take care" sentiment paired with the flower sprig nestles right in behind my "frame".

Big Shot Designer Frames Embossing Folders

It might be hard to see, but the larger flower images were stamped using the "rock and roll" method - Pumpkin Pie for the base ink color and Real Red for the outer edges. The background flowers were "stamped off" once (onto scratch paper) to create a softer, lighter image. I used the same technique for the larger flowers/stems, but didn't stamp off.

It's Your Day!

Greeting Card Featuring Raining Flowers Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

Maybe this should be titled "It's Your LUCKY Day" since the card base is Lucky Limeade - one of the yummy new In Colors from Stampin' Up! I LOVE the new In Colors - Every. Last. One.  Sometimes certain colors take a while to grow on me. Sometimes they NEVER do! But these five new In Colors? LOVE at first sight. In case you haven't seen them ...
New Stampin' Up! In Color Swatches

And, of course, in typical Stampin' Up! fashion you can count on effortless coordination: inks, smooth and textured card stock, Patterns Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Write Markers, Designer Printed Brads (polka dots!), and ruffled ribbon are all available in these new In Colors.

I can't take credit for designing today's card - it was one of our Make & Take projects at the Stampin' Up! Convention last month. I think it's super cute and thought I'd share it with you. The It's Your Day stamp set gives this card its name (and theme). To ensure the sentiments lined up properly we used the Stamp-a-ma-jig®. This tool is essential for precise stamp placement and so easy to use. I actually use mine quite often!

Raining Flowers Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! flower detail

The flowers and stems are from the Raining Flowers stamp set - a new, really fun 2-Step Stampin'® set with 13 images to mix and match. I can't wait to play around with these rubber stamps a bit more! The More Mustard flower centers were punched using the 1/2" Circle Punch, then slightly curled using a Bone Folder and attached with Mini Glue Dots.

The ribbon detail was a snap to create: SNAIL adhesive was applied across the bottom of the Whisper White piece to hold the Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon in place. The Old Olive Taffeta Ribbon was simply stapled over the top. Cute AND easy!  TIP: A mini stapler works great, but if you use a regular stapler, apply a tiny bit of SNAIL to hold the Old Olive ribbon in place. The larger staples may allow enough "wiggle room" for the ribbon to come loose.

I'm still trying to decide WHICH new In Color is my favorite of the bunch.  I'm torn - guess I'll have to keep playing a while longer before I decide. How about YOU? Have you picked a favorite yet? Let me know which one (or if you're still deciding like me) in the comments. I'd love to know what you think.

Have a colorful day!

Enjoy The Simple Things

Touch of Kindness Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

Splish, splash ... Aren't these little birds just the CUTEST, splashing around in their birdbath? I couldn't wait to dive in with this image from the Touch of Kindness stamp set from Stampin' Up! (See more greeting card ideas using this rubber stamp set HERE and HERE.)

The Tempting Turquoise background gains a bit of subtle texture thanks to the new STRIPES Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This simple design was on my wish list, when lo and behold, it appeared in the new 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog. Yippee!

The main image was watercolored using Stampin' Up! Classic Pads and an Aqua Painter and Blender Pens. TIP: Build depth and shading into your watercoloring by adding "layers" of color, letting the image dry before adding another layer.

Birds in Birdbath Rubber Stamp Image

I gave my "sun" a little texture with clear embossing powder before punching it out with the Scallop Circle Punch. The butterfly was borrowed from the cute kitty rubber stamp in this set. TIP: Ink just a portion of a stamp using a Stampin' Write Marker or you can touch the corner of an ink pad to the stamp to carefully ink just a portion of an image.

Embossing Technique on Stampin' Up! Scallop Circle Punch

The flower, a simple punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, mimics the tiny flower at the base of the birdbath image. SO CUTE!  For a quick and easy "special touch", I added TINY little drops of Crystal Effects (I used a toothpick) to the water droplets. Probably hard to see here, but in real life they almost look like real droplets of water!

Stampin' Up! Touch of Kindness Greeting Card

The finishing touch was the gorgeous Soft Suede Taffeta Ribbon . . . but then I got carried away with cuteness and added a little flower button tied with Baker's Twine. Ya, I know . . . cuteness overload, right? Hey, it was one of those days that just NEEDED a lot of cuteness. And it worked, too! And all was right with the (Stampingville) world again. ;-)

Less than three weeks left to get your hands on the Touch of Kindness stamp set. Simple Hello - A Touch of Kindness

Touch of Kindness stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Do you know someone who could use a cheery hello? A sweet thank you? A reminder they are thought of fondly? The Touch of Kindness stamp set featured in the Summer Mini Catalog is the perfect stamp set for creating greeting cards and projects with these messages in mind.
Touch of Kindness Stamp Image Watercoloring

The cute kitty only requires a little watercoloring and he's done. Maybe HE is a SHE? Looks like a boy kitty to me! The darling butterfly was stamped on So Saffron card stock, hand cut and adhered directly to the card.
Jewelry Tag Punch with Greeting

The "hello" sentiment fits perfectly within the Jewelry Tag Punch and I borrowed the tiny flower from the birdbath stamp in the same set. (Look for a card featuring the little birdies coming soon!) You can also see another sample using this stamp set HERE.

So ... how 'bout it? Do you have someone in mind who could use a Touch of Kindness in their day? I think just about anyone would be happy to receive a little cheery note in their mailbox.

A Big Top Birthday - Part Two

More birthday party fun ... CUPCAKES! I actually planned ahead (gasp!) and created these cute cupcake toppers for the birthday boy's celebration. They turned out so cute and were super easy to make too.

Using the Petite Pennants Builder Punch, I cut lots of scalloped pennants from card stock, then punched the smaller pennants from the Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper. This new punch has a coordinating stamp set, Pennant Parade, and I used the "wish big" sentiment on half of the pennants.

I couldn't resist pulling out the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set so I could use that adorable itty bitty cupcake! Each of the pennants was embellished with a heart, star, or cupcake, punched using the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (circle) and popped up from the pennant with a teeny snip of a Stampin' Dimensional.

The pennants (I used two pennants per topper - back to back) were glued to a wooden skewer using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. That's it! Fun to make and super quick and easy, thanks to those handy punches.

And those cupcakes? YUMMY!!!! I cheated and used a mix + can of frosting (shhh - don't tell) and let me tell you ... those darn cupcakes were TO. DIE. FOR.  Really!

Have a yummy day!

A Big Top Birthday - Part One

Big Top Birthday Easy Card Ideas

It's been a party (literally) around Stampingville the past few days as we celebrated my hubby's birthday. (Happy Birthday, Sweetie, one more time!) After seeing so many inspiring creations at the recent Stampin' Up! Convention, it was hard to choose a theme. But since I was lucky enough to win a round of Prize Patrol, I just happened to snag a birthday themed prize package! (How's that for fabulous timing? Thank You, Stampin' Up!)

Are you a fan of quick and easy? Today's card came together in a snap with just a few coordinating products. The Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper gets the ball rolling with fun, bright colors suitable for any age and gender. The Big Top Birthday Quick Accents are a no-brainer - just choose from the selection of self-adhesive die cuts and paper ribbons and you're good to go.  The Perfectly Penned stamp set fits right in, but I know I'll be using this cool greeting set on lots of future projects.

Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

I'm having tons of fun with the new Petite Pennants Builder Punch too. (I got lots of play time with it designing a convention swap card - stay tuned for details.) On today's card, I only used the smaller pennant to mimic the patterned paper.

TIP: A mini glue dot in the top corners of each pennant were perfect for attaching the pennants to the Baker's Twine AND attaching the banner to the card.

I tucked the ends of the twine behind the Designer Series Paper before adhering it to the Tempting Turquoise card base. I left the tips of the pennants flying free (no Stampin' Dimensionals - gasp!), so I gave them just a slight bend to add dimension.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for A Big Top Birthday - Part Two.

Warning: Cupcakes are involved - don't say I didn't warn you. Hee!
