I couldn’t resist. I saw this cute Halloween card idea (I’m pretty sure it was a Stampin’ Up! creation) and I HAD to make it. Three reasons why: a) I thought the card design was clever; b) I haven’t done this type of masking technique for a while; and c) these pumpkins with their mustaches CRACK ME UP!
The card itself is pretty simple and fairly self-explanatory, other than maybe the masking part – which is super easy. Here’s how: Stamp the image (from the Out on a Limb stamp set) onto a scrap piece of paper or on a “sticky note”. Cut out the image with paper snips. I used a ruler and drew a light pencil line across the card stock to help keep these guys in line.
Starting on the RIGHT edge, stamp the image directly on the card stock using Jet Black StazOn. Next, cover the image with the cut out scrap (this is the mask). Stamp the image again, to the left of the previous image, slightly overlapping. Move the mask over to cover the image just stamped and repeat the process right on down the line.
Now the pumpkins are ready for coloring. I used Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango and Cajun Craze classic ink pads and an Aqua Painter. Don’t forget to erase the pencil line! The finished card size, by the way, is 6-5/8” x 3-3/8” and fits perfectly in the Small Open-End Envelopes.
So … are pumpkins on parade at your house? One of our neighbors actually did this! The pumpkins have funny faces drawn on them and they are lined up on the sidewalk with a sign that says “Pumpkins on Parade”. It’s hilarious! They have lots of other Halloween decorations up too – it puts some of us “slackers” to shame. Sigh.
Have a great week and thanks for visiting!
