Simply Stunning Thank You

Stampin' Up! Clean & Simple Card Ideas

Is it possible to create cards that are simple, yet stunning? That was the question this month over at the SoShelli.com Creative Challenge. (The answer, by the way, is absolutely! Sometimes less is more.)  My simple idea turned out just as beautiful as I imagined it - clean, crisp lines with a small watercolored bouquet. I do wish you could see these cards in person - they ARE simply stunning. If I do say so myself! ;)

I created two versions - one standard size and one using Stampin' Up! Note Cards. The classic 5" x 3-1/2" Note Cards in Whisper White come packaged with coordinating envelopes and are a great choice for beginning stampers/card makers.

Stampin' Up! Elegant Thank You Note Card

Both cards start with a Whisper White card base, layered with a panel of textured  Whisper White card stock (attached with Stampin' Dimensionals). I used the Simply Scored (scoring tool) to create simple lines in the card stock to imitate an embossed look. This adds interest and texture in a very elegant, subtle way.

HIP TIP: Textured card stock has a "good side" that you'll want facing outward. To create the embossed (raised) lines, I turned the card stock "face down" on the scoring tool so the indented score lines would be raised on the "good side" when I flipped the card stock over.

Clean & Simple Ideas For Handmade Cards

The thank you sentiment, from the Curly Cute stamp set, was stamped with Rose Red ink. Need help with straight lines and perfect placement?  For wood mounted stamps, I recommend using a Stamp-a-ma-jig. For clear mount rubber stamps, try the Perfectly Placed Guides - repositionable die-cut guides for clear blocks.

The sweet floral bouquet, from the new Bordering on Romance stamp set, was stamped on Watercolor Paper using StazOn ink and colored using an Aqua Painter and classic ink pads. For just a tiny bit of sparkle, I added a little Dazzling Details to the flower centers. After hand cutting the bouquet, it was attached with Stampin' Dimensionals, which really makes it pop from the card.

These cards were quick and easy to create and have a simple elegance that is timeless. With a change of sentiment, they would be perfect for numerous occasions, especially birthday, get well, and sympathy cards.  Hooray for simply stunning!
