Pretty Scrunched Blossom For Mom

Blossom Party Die-Cut Flower Mother's Day Card

I love creating "scrunchy" flowers, but haven't made one in a while and when I took a peek at this week's Mojo Sketch I knew right away it was time again. I picked three of the gorgeous patterned papers in the Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper collection and went to town. Turning the sketch on its side allowed my "vision" to come to life.

The Postage Stamp Punch made quick work of cropping out the 12 square shapes and adds interest and texture. (I am in love with that paper ... swoon!)

The intricate doily was die-cut using the new Paper Doily Large Sizzlits Die with the outer section snipped away.

The "scrunchy" flower was created using the Blossom Party Die, cutting four layers of the largest blossom. The layers are then scrunched up, flattened out and placed one on top of the other and secured with an Antique Brad.

Next, each layer is scrunched up around the brad one layer at a time, basically creating a scrunched up ball. Then gently open up the scrunched layers and adjust as desired. For a finishing touch, I lightly dabbed at the edges using a stamping sponge inked with Soft Suede. This is SO MUCH EASIER than sponging the layers prior to assembly!

HIP TIP: I also gave it a few spritzes of Champagne Mist Shimmer Spray and let it dry thoroughly before handling. This not only adds shimmer and sparkle, but a good misting helps the layers hold their scrunched shape once it has dried.

The "happy mother's day" sentiment (Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set) was stamped on a narrow strip of Very Vanilla with the end flagged, then nestled on a length of Scallop Dots Ribbon along with two lengths of the sweet Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon.

Creative Handmade Embellishments for Cardmaking

HIP TIP: I layered the ribbon and sentiment together and secured them with a brad creating a one-piece embellishment. I attached it to the card using Sticky Strip at one end (under the flower). The brad is hidden and no worries about any of the pieces coming loose!

I gave the entire card a few more sprays of Shimmer Spray and BOY does it shimmer - so pretty!!
