Warm Winter Wishes

Stampin' Up! Winter Memories Stamp Set Card

The Winter Memories stamp set (featured in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog) is one of several gorgeous nostalgic sets perfect for watercoloring. I took inspiration straight from the catalog for my first go with this set, recreating my version of the sample card.

The card base gets shimmer and sparkle from a heavy spritz of Frost White Shimmer Spray.

Hip tip: Create your own shimmer spray by adding a few drops of Shimmer Paint to isopropyl alcohol in a Stampin' Spritzer. Short on time? Try ready to use Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.

The focal image backdrop gets textured "snow" along the bottom using one of the Delicate Designs Embossing Folders. Behind the backdrop is a strip of First Edition Designer Series Paper sponged with Early Espresso ink. A pretty bow created from the new Cherry Cobbler Scalloped Tulle Ribbon adds a burst of color and texture.

The skates look terrific embossed in Gold or Early Espresso (I chose gold). Lightly adding a little watercoloring gives the skates a natural worn look and adds depth to the image.  Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details is perfect as sparkly holly berries.  A few "drops" of Rhinestone Basic Jewels add the perfect finishing touch.

  1. Hi Gayle. Firstly, thank you for your lovely comment on my blog about my launch party. It was a great day and I did enjoy putting it all together. I love your Warm Winter Wishes card and I love the ice skates in the catalogue - however in Australia ice skating and Christmas don't really go together! I hope one day I can enjoy a white Christmas in America.
Going off to venture the rest of your blog now!

    1. I have to say that living in Florida I don't see white Christmas's either! It's still fun to color those winter scenes though. Thanks for visiting!
