Here's a fun and easy project to do with the kiddo's (or just with your 6-year-old self) this weekend: make a batch of Magic Reindeer Food to have ready for Santa's reindeer on Christmas Eve.
Magic Reindeer FoodMix together:
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup red or green sugar crystals (for cake/cookie decorating)
Magic Reindeer Food Poem
Be sure to take this magic food and sprinkle on the lawn,
On Christmas, Santa's reindeer travel miles before the dawn.
The smell of oats and glitter path will guide them on their way,
And you'll wake up to Santa's gifts next morn' on Christmas Day!
The idea is that the birds will eat the oatmeal before morning and the kids believe that the reindeer ate it. I've packaged this up in a simple cello bag and attached a cute tag with the poem printed out & adhered to the back and tied the tag to the cello bag with Sweater Trim Ribbon. If you want to step it up a notch, die-cut the poem using a Framelit and add a couple of brads.
