Easy Gift Boxes + Make Your Own Paper Feathers

You're the Best Gift Box with paper feathers

Need a cute gift box or party favor in a flash? The new Stampin' Up! Tag a Bag Gift Boxes and Bags help you to create pretty packaging for gifts or treats in no time.

One of our fun make & take convention projects was a Tag a Bag Gift Box with a few simple-to-create embellishments. The actual boxes come in a package of 8 kraft gift boxes with acetate sleeves.

Fill the box with a gift or treats, then add a tag and ribbon or twine. For super simple decorating, use the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit full of die-cut tags, Baker's Twine, mini clothespins, and more.

Tag a Bag Gift Box: Decorated and ready to give

For our project, we created and stamped a topper to place over the box before sliding into the acetate sleeve.  Images from the Hello, Lovely and Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets were stamped on Bermuda Bay cardstock.

The box was tied with Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon with a stamped "You're the Best" tag tied to it with Linen Thread.

Handmade Paper Feathers and Tag

For a final trendy touch, we created paper feathers - so quick and easy!

How to make your own paper feathers:

Punch a circle from cardstock or patterned paper. The larger the circle punch is, the larger your feather will be. (We used 2-1/2" and 1-3/4" Circle Punches.)

Create a feather shape using a circle punch

Insert the circle back into the punch about one-third of the way and punch.

Punched feather or leaf shape

You now have a feather shape! (You can also create a leaf using this same technique.) Fold the feather shape in half.

Snip at an angle to create feather

Snip through both layers at an angle, making the snips very close to one another.

For a feather, make snips at an angle and close together

Finished paper feather. Rough up the edges for dimension.

Unfold the feather and rough up the edges to add dimension. Adhere feathers to your card or project using Glue Dots.

Have a great week!

  1. Beautifully done! I have some feather dies but I like that your technique looks quick and easy and lends itself to a lot of various sizes since I own circle punches in at least 6 sizes. Thanks for sharing it Gayle! :)
