This distressed argyle card would be terrific for a masculine birthday, although it is certainly appropriate for anyone.
The argyle panel is created with the Argyle Embossing Folder (and the Big Shot). By using Core'dinations card stock, a quick pass with the Sanding Block is all it takes to make the argyle pattern pop.
The Ovals Collection Framelits provide the perfectly sized oval "window" to peek through at the vintage hot air balloon stamped beneath.
TIP: Cut the oval window first, then emboss the panel so the cutting process doesn't flatten the embossed design.
Images on this card are stamped using the You're Amazing stamp set. For the greeting, I masked off portions of the stamp using masking tape before inking the image with my ink pad, then carefully removed the tape before stamping.
(You can also use Stampin' Write Markers to ink isolated portions of a stamp, however I wasn't getting the coverage I desired using markers on the bold font greeting.)
The birthday greeting is stamped onto a modified tag, die-cut using the Chalk Talk Framelits. I simply snipped off one end before stamping on the tag using my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement.
The tag is perched atop rustic Burlap Ribbon, which I distressed and frayed.
