Sending Love Sympathy Card

Elegant sympathy card with subtle colors #cardmaking #rubberstamping #StampinUp #stampingville

It's been ages since I played along at Mojo Monday, so I thought I'd pop in and give Julee's great sketch a go for my sympathy card. Unfortunately, this card will be going straight out the door to comfort a friend.

The Stampin' Up! Love & Sympathy stamp set includes a beautiful and comforting sentiment (see below), something I consider carefully when purchasing sympathy sets. Used on its own, this set provides simple elegance (as demonstrated here), or combine it with similar stamp styles for additional looks as I've done today.

The Flower Garden Embossing Folder is a near match to the stamped flower image. I gave it just a subtle hint of color using a Sponge Dauber and Crisp Cantaloupe ink after embossing it in the Big Shot.

For subtle sophistication, the Baked Brown Sugar panel is stamped in Gold Metallic ink using the gorgeous script stamp from the Background Builders stamp set. Although the stamp itself is nearly 6 inches long to accommodate landscape-oriented cards, it was very easy to simply repeat the stamping down the length of my panel. So easy, in fact, I just eyeballed it, but you can also use the trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement.

Love & Sympathy focal image with embossed butterfly

I thought it might be fun to use one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies to create the rectangular shape behind my focal image to resemble a tag, and simply snipped off one end. The opposite end has a small opening for my ribbon to thread through.

Speaking of ribbon, I used the adorable Ruffle Stretch Trim in Crisp Cantaloupe in place of the scallop border in the sketch, and colored Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon using a Pistachio Pudding marker to create custom coordinating ribbon.

Gold embossed butterfly + Bitty Butterfly punch

In place of the circle, I've used a delicate butterfly. The image, from the Papillon Potpourri set, was stamped in Gold Metallic ink on Pistachio Pudding cardstock, heat embossed using gold embossing powder, and cropped using the Bitty Butterfly punch.

Love Butterflies? There's still time to save 15% when you purchase Papillon Potpourri and the coordinating Bitty Butterfly punch together (Wood-Mount Bundle) or (Clear-Mount Bundle). This special bundle offer ends September 30. See additional Stampin' Up! bundles available year-round.
