You Are Loved

Stampin' Up! You Are Loved Valentine Card

Incorporating a few simple techniques gives this card some pizzazz. And while it would make a lovely Valentine card, it is also perfect any time of year to let someone know that you love them.

Although this is really just a one layer card, the Sahara Sand scalloped border along the edge gives the illusion of two layers. Create this look by trimming about 1/4" off the card front and attach the embossed strip of card stock from behind. The new Needlepoint Borders Embossing Folders work perfectly for this technique.

Embossed and cut heart shaped image with flower

The heart image from the You Are Loved stamp set looks beautiful when embossed. I took it one step further and used the emboss resist technique: Stamp the image onto Whisper White card stock using VersaMark ink, followed by clear embossing powder and heat set. Then simply use Sponge Daubers to add color around the embossed areas. I used Pretty in Pink, Sahara Sand, and Always Artichoke inks.

The gorgeous flower is part of the Artisan Embellishments Kit. I simply used a Paper-Piercing Tool to poke two holes for the stem to go through, before attaching the heart to a paper doily (also in the kit or available separately - Tea Lace Paper Doilies #129399).

Punched detail of sentiment

The sentiment image was created by first stamping the image onto Sahara Sand card stock using VersaMark ink and clear embossing before cropping with the Decorative Label punch. The image was stamped a second time onto Whisper White, but using Pretty in Pink and Sahara Sand Stampin' Write Markers to color the rubber stamp. The image is cropped using the Large Oval punch and popped up with Dimensionals.

Not so loved ... Most of my week has been filled with excruciating pain from a back tooth that decided to wreak havoc on me this week. After 8127653895421 ibuprofin and finally a root canal yesterday, I'm much better. Yep, it's been good times here to round out the month. I hope your week was considerably better!

xoxo

More Amore in the Secret Garden

No, I'm not taking up writing romance novels. I'll happily stick to making pretty cards and fun papercrafts, thank you very much. I'm just having a little fun with stamp set names from the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog.

I previously mentioned our fun shoebox swap at Leadership and wanted to show you the cards we made. The ladies came up with terrific cards - we all learned a few new tricks, and no two cards used the same stamp set, which was awesome.  My card was the Madison Avenue Friends card shown here.

Stampin' Up! Carry On Stamp Set

Super fun combo with the Carry On stamp set paired with the vintage British police callbox image from the Feeling Sentimental stamp set (Sale-a-bration*). If you're a Doctor Who fan, you might call it a Tardis™.  {Card created by Sue D.}

Stampin' Up! Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set

More Amore card featuring Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set, More Amore Designer Series Specialty Paper, Sycamore Street Ribbon (SAB*), and Delicate Details Lace Tape.  {Card created by April G.}

Hearts close up with glitter

Neat trick: Apply Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet (120805) to image. Peel off backing and dip in container of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. Glitter adheres to adhesive and stays there! No glitter mess, no glitter flaking off, and no glitter waste! Genius!

Stampin' Up! By the Tide stamp set card

Quick and easy Thinking of You card with By the Tide stamp set. Technique: Use clear blocks as background stamps. Ink the block, then stamp onto card stock just like you would a stamp. {Card created by Laura C.}

Stampin' Up! Honeycomb Embossed Birthday Card

Happy Birthday Honeycomb Card. Hexagon shapes were embossed using various Embossing Folders before attaching to the card embossed with the new Honeycomb Embossing Folder. {Card created by Maria L.}

Stampin' Up! Oh, Whale! Thank You card

Adorable card using the new Oh, Whale! stamp set and coordinating Happy Whale Clearlits Die. Technique #1 - Stamp wave images onto blue card stock. Use the circle punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack to punch along the edge of the top wave. Technique #2 - Use a craft knife to cut the card stock along the edge of the stamped wave to create a "pocket" to insert the whale die-cut.  {Card created by Kathy L.}

Slider card technique close-up

Interactive Sliding Feature! Technique #3 - Create window using Word Window Punch. Stamp two scraps using heart image. Place one stamped scrap behind Word Window opening. Punch remaining scrap using long petal shape of Blossom Petals Builder Punch. Attach punched petal to the scrap below using a Stampin' Dimensional. Viola! A sliding whale spout spray!!

Stampin' Up! Sweets for the Sweet Stamp Set Card

Pinwheel card featuring Sweets for the Sweet stamp set along with the new Pinwheel Sizzlits S Die. Belly band with pinwheel also features Sycamore Street Ribbon (SAB) and is removed to open card. {Card created by Doreen F.}

Stampin' Up! Secret Garden stamp set and framelits bundle card

Secret Garden Fancy Fold Card using the Secret Garden Bundle (stamp set and coordinating framelit dies) along with the Window Frames Collection Framelits Dies. The Window Frame shapes are adhered together, scored along one side, and folded under to create a flap. The flap is inserted under the white inner card stock piece.  {Card created by Mary Jo.}

Stampin' Up! Secret Garden Bundle Card Idea

Stampin' Up! Stippled Blossoms Stamp Set Card

Hearts a Flutter Love

Stampin' Up! Hearts a Flutter Love Card

I loved making this card. It makes MY heart flutter with all it's yumminess. The overall design is a case of a cute card I spotted in a magazine, but nearly all the products used are brand new from the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog.

Isn't the yellow and coral color scheme cheerful? This could certainly be a Valentine card in non-traditional colors, or it could be for a variety of other occasions such as a baby card, thinking of you, or maybe even a Mother's Day card.

Hearts a Flutter Stamps + Framelit Dies = 15% Off Bundle by Stampin' Up!

A few details:

  • After embossing Crumb Cake card stock with the Chevron embossing folder, I hit it with a white craft ink pad* in a sort of messy fashion - splotchy and imperfect - which is perfect!
  • The paper doily got a healthy shot of Gold Glow Smooch Spritz, which is gorgeous on this project. Be sure to protect your work area when spritzing.
  • The three little hearts are created using the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack flower and snipping off two of the petals.
  • The little "love" image is from the Ciao, Baby! stamp set which coordinates with the new Petite Curly Label Punch, available for FREE during Sale-a-bration with a qualifying purchase!
*Pressed the ink pad directly onto the card stock. No card stock was abused in the making of this greeting card.

Coming Tomorrow:  Cute card samples from our shoebox swap in Orlando. A few of them include some neat tricks and cool folds!

xoxo

Madison Avenue Friends

Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration Madison Avenue Stamp Set Friends Card

Are you excited for Sale-a-bration? Tomorrow is the big day kicking off Stampin' Up!'s annual party with loads of free products. Yippee!

I created this card for a shoebox swap we held during Leadership in Orlando. There were about a dozen of us getting in the spirit of things by stamping, chatting, and general silliness the night before check-in day.

Our theme was simple: Cards using new Spring Catalog or Sale-a-bration products, which is what I chose. I paired the Madison Avenue stamp set with Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper and the Ribbon & Button Pack. I love the paper (really pretty patterns) and the ribbon is beautiful with a shiny look and satiny feel.

Notice the embossed design on the side? That's one of two designs in the Needlepoint Border Embossing Folders in the Spring Catalog. To mimic the embossed scallop border, I added a little scallop edge to the focal point using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.

New to Sale-a-bration?

Dates: January 22 - March 22, 2013
Choose one free Sale-a-bration item for every $50 you spend on Stampin' Up! products. Spend $100 and choose two free items. Spend $150 and choose three free items + $25 in hostess/stampin' rewards to spend on a Stampin' Up! shopping spree.

Learning at Leadership 2013 + Cute Gifts

Isn't that new Stampin' Up! trailer awesome?!  We spotted it on check in day at Leadership in Orlando and thought it was so cool. Turns out it's fairly new and has been coming in quite handy for hauling stuff to and from events.

If you aren't a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, you might be wondering: what IS this Leadership thing all about?

The Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference is held annually in the U.S. with attendees sharing ideas, learning new things, stamping and swaps.

Demonstrators at the level of senior supervisor and above are invited to attend this two day event designed specifically for those with growing downlines (team members).

The classes and sessions focus on leadership skills and ways to continue growing your stamping business. There are also plenty of stamping presentations with clever project ideas that elicit oodles of  oohs and aahs.

During Leadership 2013 I was able to attend several great classes. My first class, led by Andrea Withers, was titled "Ramping Up Your Social Media Presence".  Blogs, Facebook, and You Tube were covered by fellow demonstrators explaining core strategies they employ when using social media to stay in touch with current customers while attracting new customers and attention to their business. The pointers given were all very smart, actionable strategies plus do's and don'ts.

Next, I headed to "Creating Your Blueprint for Success" led by Brandi Barnard (Stampin' Up!) along with demonstrator Meg Daves. Meg walked the class through a simple worksheet detailing goals, business practices, and activities with a strong focus on determining profitable events to reach specific goals. I noticed a lot of aha moments happening during this class! ;)

"Meet New People, Find New Faces" was led by Shannon West (love her!) and featured 10 proven ways to generate new leads, build your customer base and increase profitability. Everyone in direct sales needs to continually meet new people; however, as someone who moved recently, this class was very helpful to me personally. My top three faves? Using social media, fundraisers, and getting out into the community.

Sound interesting? It is and I'd love to share all the details with you. Sale-a-bration is a great time to join Stampin' Up! and start your own stamping business. You can stuff your Starter Kit with 25% more and pick my brain on any or all of the topics above (plus other topics if you like). Contact me today for more information.

Cute Gifts!

My sweet friend (and upline) Debbie made little gifts for those of us attending Leadership this year. Isn't this little box the cutest?

She used Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper and Ribbon (Sale-a-Bration products) plus the Jewelry Tag Punch for the little friends tag.

The sparkly butterfly (Papillon Potpourri stamp set/Bitty Butterfly Punch) is resting on a little doily snippet (Delicate Details Lace Tape), layered on a polka dot embossed small scallop circle and a die-cut flower (Blossom Party Die) embossed with the Lacy Brocade embossing folder.

This bright flower cleverly uses the the Vine Street Embossing Folder (free Sale-a-bration product) for its stem and a petal from the Blossom Petals Builder Punch for a leaf!  The main flower is die-cut using the Fun Flowers Bigz Die, with A Fitting Occasion stamp set.

Surprise ... it holds a pack of gum!  How cute.

And finally, my friend Doreen made this fabulous treat holder created using the Labels Collection Framelits embossed with the Fancy Fan embossing folder. (Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper.)

Yummm ... Chocolate!

The perfect way to end the day.

xoxo
